It's the most wonderful time of the year!

The husband makes fun of me for how much I love Christmas time! The smells, the decorations, the weather, the gifts, the movies, and the music.... oh the music! Just the sound of a Christmas song triggers something inside me. I like to say that it makes me "fuzzy". You won't find this definition for fuzzy in the dictionary because I made it up. This happens to me with sappy movies, when there is a celebration time between teammates at a sports event (I know that one is hard to explain, but I love it!), but the most fuzzy times for me is when I listen to Christmas music! It brings me back to childhood and I remember all the wonderful times I had as a child at Christmas. I remember decorating the tree with Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers playing in the background.... now that is good stuff!
The hubs doesn't have this fuzzy feeling when Christmas music is on and I cant understand it! We have to agree to disagree on this topic. I mean, he isn't a Scrooge, but I guess he just isn't as obsessed as I am.
Okay well what does all this Christmas talk have to do with the adoption you might ask? Well, let me tell you!:)
I know that right about now (because I am doing the same thing) you all are starting to compile the list of people you are going to buy for this year. The shopping prep is beginning and I know it can be stressful but if you are like me, you enjoy it! So, before you really get going to knocking out your list I wanted to touch base with you and send a thought your way....
As you know we launched our scarf project... Project Ethiopia, a few weeks ago. It has been an amazing ride so far and in just 4 short weeks we have deposited over $1200 into the adoption fund! Yay God! People have responded from all over and have just gone above and beyond to help support us on this journey.
So, with that, I wanted to share with you the idea of giving a scarf, or two, or three to some of the ladies that are on your list this year! This is not only a gift that they can use but has a meaning and purpose! What better way to celebrate this wonderful season!
Each scarf that is purchased as a gift will come tagged so that the person you give it to will know the story behind their gift...
Here is what the tag will read:
"This scarf has a story...
It's made from a recycled t-shirt. We took this shirt that was tossed aside and gave it a purpose and a home.
Our family has a story...
We are on a journey to adopt a little boy from Ethiopia. We want to take this child that has been tossed aside and give him a purpose and a home. 100% of our scarf proceeds are form making this adoption journey possible for our family. God Bless
The Sanders family"

God has done so much with this project already and I am just holding onto His hand and letting Him lead.

Thank you, as always, for reading and supporting our family!!!

...and that's all that matters

I have been looking forward to the moment that I would get to blog about this next adoption milestone...... we have completed our dossier! Some of you may be wondering, what in the world is a dossier? I had no idea what one was either before this process began for us. Let me give you the basic rundown.... Basically the dossier, is a TON of paperwork, that acts as a profile for your family. Photo pages, background checks, application letter, references, home study, birth certificates, etc, etc, etc.... Our families dossier is exactly 50 pages in length! Which may not seem like a lot, but let me tell you, it is! It's not just the pages themselves, it's the precision in which each page must be executed that makes you want to pull your hair out! Notarize this, make sure each date matches exactly, any mistakes must be initialed and dated..... and the list goes on and on. I started our dossier in August of 2012 and just completed it yesterday. Now granted, I basically took the who...

When I see your face...

To be at this point already is completely surreal. As you know, we started this adoption journey in 2012. 2012! So, to be honest, you almost give up on the dream after that many years. The thought of there being a child on the other end of this hope becomes nothing more than a fantasy, a passing thought when you see a child in Target, or a longing that comes in the quiet of night right before you go to sleep. But it's certainly not a daily reality. It can't be. It's too hard. We got the email on May 26th... "Your family's CARINGS registration has been received and is under review!" CARINGS is the adoption "list" for India. Once you are registered on this list and approved you can be matched with a child. Gulp. But our email stated that it could take up to 6 to 8 weeks to be approved, so we settled in to wait for a bit. You would think after all these years that the waiting would be easier, but its so much harder right now. We feel so close and ...

Birthday Letters

Today is our little boy's first birthday! We want so desperately to be with him today, but that is not the story we are walking. So, we decided to each write him a letter on this day to share with him later in life. It's the best way we can think to celebrate him... to share just a glimpse of how much he is loved by his mom and dad. ..................................................................... Hey my little man! First of all HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! Yay for you, and I must say one is a very big deal! Daddy wants to tell you something about your birthday that you may not have known. So you were born on October 30th 2016, but mommy and daddy weren't there. In fact we weren't even with you when you turned one, crazy I know, but you will understand someday... Anyways mommy and daddy pastor a church in glenpool, and on October 29, 2016 we were busy setting up for a candy walk, and a movie on the lawn at our church. We got it all built/set up and the night starte...
