God can do anything, you know?

Hello again to all my family, friends, followers, and blog buddies! Yes, we are still alive and yes we are still adopting!
So much has happened since we last talked..... I won't bore you with all the paperwork details, but we have finished our homestudy and we are just a month or so away from completing our dossier (I hope). And once that process is complete the official waiting process will begin. Yes that's right, we haven't even begun the waiting yet.
One of the bigger developments in the journey is that we have chosen a name for our little boy! We are naming him Cameron.... we call him Cam. We have yet to choose a middle name, but that will come (Im pretty sure we have plenty of time).
We have also, enlarged our reach and we are now on Facebook sharing our journey. Our Facebook website is www.facebook.com/ajourneyforlove If you can, please share this with your friend list. We are stepping into a very important part of our adoption journey.... (insert suspenseful music here) The Fundraising!
If I am honest, Bodie and I are uncomfortable with the concept of asking for money. We know that this is a hard time for a lot of people and we dont want any of the people in our lives to feel pressure to give to us, when they struggle to get by some months. But, if you know anything about adoption, you know that it is very expensive. To bring Cam home, it will cost us around $30,000. This figure is WAY beyond what we can do on our own. It seems impossible.... but I have a God that works very well in the impossible! When we accepted this call to adopt, we knew that we couldn't possibly do it on our own. We knew that God would have to provide the finances. We knew that there would be people come our way that would guide and help us through this journey, whether that be through prayer, through contacts they have, or through money. This blog & our new facebook page will allow us to connect to so many more people than we ever could.
So, here is what you can do...... share this blog and our FB page with your people. I am going to be launching a fundraiser later this week (so excited about this), so I want to get as many people connected with our story ASAP! You can help us so much just with a few clicks of a button by sharing our story.
I will leave you with a scripture that keeps me grounded when I look at the adoption bills that are coming our way....
"God can do anything, you know- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us" Eph 3:20 MSG

Man, I love the Message version!

...and that's all that matters

I have been looking forward to the moment that I would get to blog about this next adoption milestone...... we have completed our dossier! Some of you may be wondering, what in the world is a dossier? I had no idea what one was either before this process began for us. Let me give you the basic rundown.... Basically the dossier, is a TON of paperwork, that acts as a profile for your family. Photo pages, background checks, application letter, references, home study, birth certificates, etc, etc, etc.... Our families dossier is exactly 50 pages in length! Which may not seem like a lot, but let me tell you, it is! It's not just the pages themselves, it's the precision in which each page must be executed that makes you want to pull your hair out! Notarize this, make sure each date matches exactly, any mistakes must be initialed and dated..... and the list goes on and on. I started our dossier in August of 2012 and just completed it yesterday. Now granted, I basically took the who...

When I see your face...

To be at this point already is completely surreal. As you know, we started this adoption journey in 2012. 2012! So, to be honest, you almost give up on the dream after that many years. The thought of there being a child on the other end of this hope becomes nothing more than a fantasy, a passing thought when you see a child in Target, or a longing that comes in the quiet of night right before you go to sleep. But it's certainly not a daily reality. It can't be. It's too hard. We got the email on May 26th... "Your family's CARINGS registration has been received and is under review!" CARINGS is the adoption "list" for India. Once you are registered on this list and approved you can be matched with a child. Gulp. But our email stated that it could take up to 6 to 8 weeks to be approved, so we settled in to wait for a bit. You would think after all these years that the waiting would be easier, but its so much harder right now. We feel so close and ...

Birthday Letters

Today is our little boy's first birthday! We want so desperately to be with him today, but that is not the story we are walking. So, we decided to each write him a letter on this day to share with him later in life. It's the best way we can think to celebrate him... to share just a glimpse of how much he is loved by his mom and dad. ..................................................................... Hey my little man! First of all HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! Yay for you, and I must say one is a very big deal! Daddy wants to tell you something about your birthday that you may not have known. So you were born on October 30th 2016, but mommy and daddy weren't there. In fact we weren't even with you when you turned one, crazy I know, but you will understand someday... Anyways mommy and daddy pastor a church in glenpool, and on October 29, 2016 we were busy setting up for a candy walk, and a movie on the lawn at our church. We got it all built/set up and the night starte...
